Frequently Asked Questions

Craft Detailing is a professional detailing service that offers various services including car detailing, ceramic coatings, and paint correction. Below are some frequently asked questions that will provide you with a better understanding of us and our services.

What kind of cars do you work on?2020-07-06T09:44:34-04:00

We work on any year, make or model car. There’s no such thing as “too old” for a car to get properly detailed.

How much is a detail?2020-07-06T09:43:03-04:00

We offer different levels of detailing packages ranging from basic hand washes to multi-step paint corrections, ceramic coatings, and paint protection film. Check out our detailing page to see which package would fit you best. Don’t see exactly what you’re looking for? Give us a call, we’d love to guide you through it.

How far out do you typically book appointments?2020-07-06T09:42:42-04:00

Most detailing, ceramic coatings, and paint protection film installs are under a 2 week wait time. During peak season (spring and summer) it could be more but 2 weeks or less is our goal. If you have a new vehicle delivery date set with your dealer you can always book further in advance and move the date as needed.

What services do we offer besides detailing?2020-07-06T09:44:06-04:00

Ceramic coatings and paint protection film are our most popular options. We also offer vinyl wrapping, window tinting, dent repair, wheel refinishing, leather repair, and Transparent™ Aftermarket Warranties.

What happens if I’m in an accident?2020-07-06T09:41:52-04:00

Most major insurance companies will cover the Xpel Paint Protection Film (PPF) and Opti-Coat Pro+ ceramic coating to the affected areas that have been repainted.

How do I/ when can I wash my car after a ceramic coating?2020-07-06T09:33:04-04:00

As part of our Opti-Coat Pro+ install, we include a complimentary follow-up wash 10 days after your original install appointment. We will wash your vehicle and double-check the curing of the coating (and Xpel if applicable). We will walk you through step by step of the products we use and the proper wash method for a safe and easy wash at home.

Is it better to do paint protection film or a ceramic coating?2020-07-06T09:32:32-04:00

Ideally, both. They solve different problems. Xpel Paint Protection Film (PPF) is ideal for the high impact areas to protect against deep scratches, rock chips, and minor abrasions. While the Opti-Coat will add extreme gloss, shine, and very high chemical resistance to the paint. Opti-Coat is a long term replacement for a wax or a sealant, leaving your paint easy to wash for years instead of months.

Do coatings stop rock chips?2020-07-06T09:31:10-04:00

No, no ceramic coating will prevent rock chips. For that, we recommend the Xpel Ultimate Paint Protection Film.

What are your operating hours?2020-07-06T09:30:03-04:00

How long does the service take?2020-07-16T09:51:56-04:00

Depends on the service. Washes generally take 30 minutes, but most of our services its best that you leave your vehicle with us for the day. For ceramic coatings, we need a couple of days.

What forms of payment do you accept?2020-07-16T09:54:10-04:00

We take all major credit cards and cash. We do not accept any form of check.

Where are you located?2023-03-16T14:38:47-04:00

We have two convenient locations in Dedham and Woburn, MA, just footsteps from the Boston City line.

How often should I get my vehicle(s) detailed?2020-07-16T09:57:58-04:00

It depends, on your usage and how you treat your vehicle. We do advise that you wash your vehicle on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

Why choose Craft Detailing?2020-07-16T09:58:47-04:00

We pride ourselves on our customer experience and our quality of work. We have close to 100 years of combined detailing experience. We treat every vehicle like it was our own. We take pride in our work and don’t take short cuts to get the job out the door. If we’re not happy with it, it doesn’t go out the door.

Why shouldn’t I just go to the carwash?2020-07-16T10:02:24-04:00

The tunnel is super convenient, quick, and easy. But the felt strips in a tunnel type car wash will put swirl marks and light scratches into the surface of your paint. Its basically taking dirt from the car in front of yours and rubbing onto yours. You may also notice that your wheels aren’t exactly clean, generally leaving behind large spots of brake dust in the hard to reach areas of your wheels.
